My team usually had a desk that was crazy messy and I wondered how did they actually work there. It was actually a challenge for them to organize their desk and their work as well. The team members were often told to keep things decluttered. But how? Here are some useful tips that I gave them which helped the team to have an organized life.
How to stay organized? Create a plan The first thing when you start decluttering your life should be to have a simple yet effective plan to carry the things forward. Using a project management software will help you in simply planning what you need and can be used for a lot more than just managing a project. Decide what needs to go and what needs to stay. Go through each item in our task list in your online project management software and categorize them well. Clean your space So, when you are using a project management software, you will never have to keep a set of papers or notepad on your desk. You can easily clear your space of clutter and remove all the unused office supplies. Give your desk afresh start with a few things. Select wisely what piles should stay. Remove those hoardings of paper that you do not need and get them organized and dated, or thrown in the bin. Trust me you will be much sorted to let go of the things that are no longer serving you. Assign them their particular spaces If you have some important things to keep on your desk or drawer, label them. Those different colors pen, old files, meetings files and other things, assign them particular places or folders so you do not have to spend extra time in searching for items again. Keep away things that distract you and be more clear about your requirements. When you have to use them, pick them and put it back to their relevant places. A dedicated space for meetings Take a look at your desk surface. Maintain a different space for things that you use for meetings, presentation notes, collateral presentations and other. Having a folder means you’ll have a organized system for your next meetings and for any help that you might need for the meeting. Figure out what gadgets you need Depending on the type of work you are into, figure out the gadgets you need. You may need lamps, staples, fax machine, printing, card holders, clock, timer and others. Always keep them by your side in an organized way so you do not have to run for it when you need them. Place the gadgets according to your needs so they are never out of your reach. These little things will keep you much organized, grant you more focus, peace of mind and productivity. Clear off your desk before you leave and you will be thankful in the morning.
